As part of the list of things "to do," Andrew and I have been looking into where it is we will call home come December. While the housing market is definitely good for buyers at the moment, there is still quite a bit to consider in this big decision! The thought of living somewhere with more than 800 sq ft is so very exciting--not to mention having a place of our own. We are definitely blessed that Marti (Andrew's momma) is a real estate agent through Coldwell Banker here in Lancaster. She has been so very helpful in the whole process, plus it's nice to have someone so caring & genuine when it comes to this big step!
It seems as though we are checking the MLS listings daily for our dream home. In the meantime we have started our collection of furniture! Our first purchase for our new place took place just over a week ago from a family at Grace Chapel. It was perfect timing, as this family is headed to Kenya to become missionaries (please keep them in your prayers). The furniture was a great deal--plus it looks great! The only setback was where we would store it? I am happy to report that Andrew's room is now quite cozy with his bed, our sofa, love seat, and coffee table! He's a good sport--I'm so lucky!
Back to the home search...
...this last weekend we embarked on a journey into a few neighborhoods in order to see what some houses had to offer, after noting the spray paint tagging that was rather repetitious in one area, we decided to take a trip down memory lane instead....
...1105 E. Ave J-1...
...it seems like just yesterday I was a little girl memorizing that address, my address, at the time. Andrew & I payed a visit to my childhood home, mostly because I was curious to see how it was looking now-a-days. I pointed out my old room, the upper right window, and spilled every memory that came to mind when we pulled up to that street.
I was amazed at how tiny the brick wall looked that lined the front yard, as I remember being small enough to need help stepping over it. We walked up to the sidewalk to see if a particularly special memento was still there. After a bit of sweeping I was happy to see that it was...

...my Daddy's the best-- what can I say!
While we definitely adjusted to our new house, I've always had a special place in my heart for my first home. I miss the pool we had- complete with diving board that terrified me & the slide placed at the shallow end of the pool so that if you went down head first you were sure to scrape your chin on the bottom (where was the engineering in that decision?). I remember sitting in my Dad's front office and drawing pictures of all the airplane pictures he had covering the walls... this may sound cliche', but in some ways-- 'those were the days.'
The street was beautiful, especially in the fall as the leaves from the many trees would lightly coat the street and sidewalks...
...anyways...
...it was a nice trip down memory lane, I'm sure most of you can relate. It makes more sense, now then ever, that home is most assuredly where the heart is.
